This song came out of that experience, and was also greatly influenced by Richard Twiss' wonderful book, "One Church, Many Tribes". I then had a vision of a friendship dance (didn't even know what one was at the time, I was so green!) and saw different nations of people dancing around one fire. The Lord began to speak to me, asking me to pull that hidden part of me out and to the forefront. It was an identity that I had always held dear to my heart, but never had a place to express. The Spirit Way - soon after we moved to Williams Lake, BC, living in such close proximity to 13 different Indian bands, the Lord began to remind me of the stories of native ancestry in my family. The song changed me, how I dealt with the hard things life was throwing at us, and how I saw God in it all.

I woke up singing "I delight in you" and later shared it in a spontaneous time of worship at church that morning. One night I dreamt that Father God came and began singing over us and other individuals in our church family. Our girls were still very young, we were pastoring our first church, and we were at our wits end with the challenges of life. I Delight in You - this song actually came to me during a very hard season of ministry. Here are some of the stories behind the songs on this album: It is so awesome to see that God has hidden His Name in some of the deepest heart cries of aboriginal people the world over - He really is an awesome God and Creator!" This has added a new meaning and depth to my worship, knowing that such simple chants as "Hey-ah" can be used as a guttural prayer to Yahweh. "When researching the sounds that make up the chants, I was surprised to find many of the words translate to names for God in Hebrew. Some of the more unique sounds interwoven thru this album include Native American chants and drums, paraphrased Scripture and Hebrew names for God. This CD is one of the grooviest and tightest CDs Ive ever heard. Every song is so well done to the point of picking which "tracks" are best is pointless. The most captivating moment, though, is a new number called "Tyrone," in which she most eloquently tells a dense boyfriend to take a hike. She also takes on an assortment of covers, ranging from Roy Ayers's "Searching" to the Mary Jane Girls' "All Night Long," making each one sound distinctly her own. For her part, Badu does a wonderful job revisiting the material from her superb debut Baduizm. It's in the warmth of the songs, the intimacy with which Badu addresses the crowd, and the constant chants of "Erykah!" emanating from the masses. There is a kindred bond between the singer and her audiences which translates wonderfully onto the disc. To put it mildly, the Badu live experience is anything but typical. After seeing Erykah Badu steal the "Smokin Grooves Tour" summer of 1996, however, it only makes sense that her record company decided to release Live as a stopgap between her next studio recording. Description There is always cause for concern when a promising new artist follows up a solid debut with a live album rehashing all the same material.
